review: 100% Pure's Honey Almond Nourishing Body Cream

I recently bought this body cream or lotion or moisturizer from 100% Pure upon the recommendation of one of the organic/non toxic blogs that I have been reading. I am always in the look out for great non toxic beauty products, don't ask why, and I am willing to try anything as long as my budget permits.

But first let me share what other products I have tried before this.

We have been using Jergens Ultra Healing Lotion (J is loyal to this) for the longest time and it's working just fine with me. It scored 5 in Skin Deep, with a 10 on PropylParaben, 8 on Fragrance, and 7 on DMDM Hydantoin (formaldehyde releaser).

I also have the Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream (score: 4, with a 5 for Benzyl Alcohol and 4 for Petrolatum) but I am finding it really hard to apply.

As I have said I have tried Body Shop's Body Butter but I only liked the Almond. Last time I checked, Almond is not being offered anymore (But I checked today and it's back on stock!!!!), I have tried the Shea, Mango and Honey Mania. And half jar of the latter is still sitting on my dresser for about a year now. They all scored 6, because of the paraben ingredients and fragrances.

The Curel Moisture Lotion Daily Moisture Lotion for Dry Skin, Original (scored 4 because of paraben, fragrance and petrolatum) works fine with my skin too.

I have tried Burt's Bees Shea Butter Hand Repair Creme but I didn't like the smell and how it felt on my skin. I think I have only used it twice. I can't seem to find it in the Skin Deep database, though.

I still have my first travel tube of L'Occitane Dry Skin Hand Cream in my bag (scored 7: paraben, alcohol, fragrance).

The Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion I have on my desk works wonder on my hands. I have been using for about a year now at the office and I am liking it. I will be buying a bigger size and will try it as a whole body lotion. It scored 2 overall on EWG with a 5 on Benzyl Alcohol as the ingredient with highest concern.

Back to 100% Pure's Honey Almond Nourishing Body Cream. It scored 2 on EWG's Skin Deep database so it is safe and natural. I have been using it daily for about 3 weeks now. I chose the almond because I really loved the soft scent of Body Shop's Almond Body Butter. And 100% Pure's almost smells the same way. The consistency is thick and I really have high hopes for this product.

It came in easy to squeeze container and is also easy to apply. I must say it really moisturizes my skin. But sadly, only for a few minutes. Maybe it is my skin, maybe it's the pregnancy hormone making my skin really, really dry, maybe it's the weather here in Canada. But I don't think this is the right body moisturizer for me. My skin feels okay after applying it but immediately feels parched after just a few minutes of applying. As if I haven't applied any at all. It's not even winter yet, we are still above the normal fall temperature so I guess I shall stop using this for now and use it again come summer. Hopefully I can write a more favorable review when that time comes.

review: 100% Pure's Fruit Pigmented Lip Glaze Watermelon

I am a lipstick, lip gloss, lip balm, lip shimmer, lip-whatever-kind-of person. I have tubes of those products that I have only used once or twice. Why do I keep buying? Because.

I don't usually wear make up and the eye brows and lips are the only parts of my face that I can confidently put products on, on a daily basis. If I have something on them, I already feel made up.

And we all know that lip products are either a hit or miss. You have to buy it and try it to truly determine if it's going to work for you (unless you're comfortable on trying the testers at the store). Amongst all those that I have tried, these are the memorable ones:

The Body Shop's Lipstick (only using it for occasions wherein I have to appear to be truly made up), I forgot the exact shade but it's reallyyy RED:

All of which I can't seem to find in Skin Deep database. 

And the latest that I have been using for about a year now is the Clinique's Almost Lipstick in Spicy Honey and Black Honey.

I have also bought Clinique's Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Strawberry but as usual, didn't work out fine.

Clinique's Almost Lipstick works fine with me, specially the Spicy Honey. Although Black Honey has a lot of rave reviews, I find it too dark for me for everyday use. But I see it is a good Fall/Autumn shade. 

And since, I have been reading about organic/non toxic products, I decided to try 100% Pure's Fruit Pigmented Lip Glaze Watermelon,

I ordered it together with the Honey Almond Nourishing Body Cream. And came with sample products in sachets: shampoo and 2 other nourishing cream of which I gave to somebody else to try on to. 

I first used it when I attended a wedding. The color is rich and the feel is creamy and non-drying. However, the stain didn't last long and and it clumped on my lips. Again, maybe it's just my lips or pregnancy hormones. Our body chemistry reacts distinctively with each product. It doesn't mean that we'll have the same results so you have to try it yourself to see how it's going to work for you. Given, it didn't deliver the way I have expected it. But I still think it's a keeper and I plan to use it in replacement of the Body Shop Lipstick. I find the shade too festive for everyday use so I will use it on need-to-be-fully-made-up-occasions. I don't want to buy a tamer shade for everyday use because the price is a bit too expensive for me at C$22. 

I have bought 2 lip balm from Burt's Bees last week and I have been using it alternately for days now. I will write a review too after a couple more weeks but I am loving it, I want to buy another shade. At $8 a piece, not bad.

Yup. One moment it is busy with all baby stuff. Next minute I want to redecorate the entire house. And before I know it, I am looking at charms. Sheesh. Let me walk you through it.

We are almost done with all the baby stuff. I think. Still have a few unchecked items on the list but those can wait after the baby is born. J would just have to do the shopping alone.

As with the other goals, I am very glad to say that Kid #1 has been sleeping in his own room now for more than a week without any hassle! Yay for us! Though sometimes he tells us that he gets lonely in his room, but still that is a big feat. On his first night, he just went straight to his room after our good nights. He said he woke up a couple of times thru the night but just let himself sleep back. And every night he asks his Dad to tuck him in. Awwwww.

There was a slight improvement on his room from this. I was meaning to take an "after" photo of his room for another post but I haven't still. No time. One of these days.

The "nursery" in our bedroom had been partially set up, meaning the crib. We are still trying to find a dresser but haven't got any luck. Oh well. Our room has a bit of a space now but still cramped. And cluttered. We have managed to throw away some "stuffs" a week ago but still not enough.

I still haven't started on our closet. I was vent on organizing the closet and purge.

the clothes inside the white garbage bags are the clothes that I know I wont be wearing in the coming year. But don't be fooled. There are new acquisitions lying on the floor + my purses. I am just too ashamed to show it ;) 

I am sure I can throw away some of my clothes and make up (no, not purses). I was dilly-dallying on buying this for my purses. By the time I decided that yes I need it, it is now out of stock. Back to zero. At least I got 2 of this for my shoes. And I am more than happy to be able to just see all my shoes in one location. Well except the boots.

And remember Kid #1 gifted me with a bracelet on my birthday?

The original cord was just a plastic thingy that is just waiting to be untied anytime. I was worried that the beads would all just fall off. And it was a great excuse to look at bracelets and charms.

Still in the look out though for a charm for the new baby. I don't know if I should just get a "baby" charm or another "boy" charm. There are lots of baby charms but only found a couple of boy charms.

birthday outfit

wala pa akong outfit para sa birthday ni aquim. Hinde kasi ako nakabili nung last weekend. So today, lumarga na naman ako. Ang hirap kasing maghanap ng outfit. Kasi mataba nga ako noh, so ang dami kong limitations. Malaki chan, puson, braso, etc. tapos hinde ko pa alam talaga kung ano ang bibilhin ko. definitely hinde dress. kasi naman safari nga theme namin noh, san ka naman nakakita ng nakadress. i want casual and relaxed pero hinde naman mukang yaya. hehehe baka kasi magshirt lang ako eh kahit david and goliath yun, me pirated version na nun noh, magmukha akong yaya ng anak ko.

as usual, late na naman ako nakaalis. 2pm na yata. Naglunch na kasi ko dito, para tipid tapos pinaliguan na din namin si aquim para hinde na mahassle si lolo nya. Kahapon kasi nun nag divi ako nahassle siya eh. so ngayon, magpeplay na lang talaga sila at magpapadodo. at magpapalit ng diaper. anyway, Pagdating ko ng glorietta, napadaan ako ng tindahan ng bag. nung weekend kasi napakadaming tao dun, so this time, walang tao, i decided to check out the items. altho meron din naman kaming nahiram ng products brochure nila at tinignan ko na yung ibang items dun, siyempre iba pa rin ang sa personal noh. ipinalabas ko dun sa sales rep yung mga items na nagustuhan ko sa brochure, hinde naman pala siya ganon kaganda sa personal. meron akong nakita, sale, at yun ang nagustuhan ko. wow.. parang makakashopping ako ng bag ah. kelangan ko kasi ng bagong bag. kasi wala akong bag na for everyday use. yung bag kong suede, mabigat and ayaw ko na muna gamitin. namimili kasi ng damit. pag mga cotton ang damit ko, nasisira kasi nag hihimulmol sa kakakaskas dun sa suede. eh yung pony hair, ayos sana, kahit na mejo makati sa katawan (nakakasundot kasi yung mga buhok), kaso nakakalbo na siya. so ayaw ko na din muna siya gamitin. pero 1.5 yrs na yun sa akin ha. gip yun sa akin nin jason nun christmas 2006


anyways, eto yung bag na gusto ko. 40% off siya ha. Calf leather din and big enough siya for my things and some of aquim things na nilagagay ko sa bag ko. Plus hinde siya mabigat, bag alone. Tapos malambot siya. So tinext ko si jason, pinicture ko and kinuwento ko. tinignan ko din yun bag na sinasuggest nya sa akin. eh ayaw ko naman non. yung ibang nagustuhan ko nga before, ayaw ko na din. meron dun isa akong pinagpipilian, shopper din siya. kulay pink and canvas siya. regular priced pero mas mura pa rin dito sa 40% off na bag na gusto ko. kung hinde ma okay ke jason tong green one, yun na lang pink one.


pinareserve ko na lang muna yung green. Kasi last season's stock pa yun, sale, and last piece na. yung pink, marami pa raw. Sabi ko balikan ko later, antayin ko lang hubby ko. Nagikot muna ko for my outfit. Meron naman na ko talagang namataan na gusto ko, sa regatta. kaso lang, kelangan ko muna sukatin kasi baka maya sa perpektong manikin lang maganda, sa aking normal na katawan hinde na bagay. sinukat ko. ok naman. malaki nga lang talaga ang braso ko. eh pero wala na akong magagawa dun. nag ikot din muna ko sa iba, baka kasi me makita ako. mango, zara, rustans, debenhams, u2, british india, m&s, gap, lulu castagnette and finally sm. kaso wala e. walang dating. antayin ko na lang ulit si jason kasi kelangan ko ng opinion.


6-630 nagkita na kami, pinuntahan muna namin yung bag, ok naman sa kanya, so yahu. Me bago na akong bag! Yahu… my new favorite bag. Tapos punta kami regatta, okay naman daw sa kanya. Kung carry ko daw, ok na din. Pinalitan lang namin yung kulayl. Kasi ang una kong sinukat yung parang me pagka orange. pinalitan namin ng lavender. kahit na hinde na kami magkamotif hehehe. kasi siya white polo shirt with orange stripes eh. si baby ko siyempre parang si kuya kim. pero buy pa naman siya ng pampalit, baka this weekend. tapos ako lavender. eh pwede na yun. hinde naman kelangan terno terno. basta happy na ko sa bag ko. hehe at hinde loud ang bag ko ha. simple lang siya. walang tatak. hehehe meron lang siyang keychain. pero kung hinde ko yun gamitin, di mo malalaman kung ano yung. not unless maalam ka talaga sa products nila. ayos talaga.


grabe puyatan na naman ako. Kami pala. Nilagay na namin yung ibang loots dun sa backpack. Bukas mamimili naman ako ng candies, chocos and whathaveyous sa grocery. Ilalagay ko na din. Andami naming dala sa Sunday. Tarp. Souvenir. Lootbags (70backpacks, kulang pa nga, kasi late magsi confirm ang mga magulang. hinde ko na sila naisama sa bilang). cake. cupcakes and cookies. stroller. mga things ni aquim. hayy. dami noh. gudlak sa amin.kanina nga habang nagpapalit ako ng diaper ni aquim, kinakausap ko siya. sabi ko baby, sa sunday, sa birthday mo, magsisimba tayo. tapos natin magsimba, kakain tayo ng breakfast. tapos maligo ka na ha. tapos dumodo ka at matulog ka na. para makapag ayos kami ni daddy mo. pagkagising mo. magbihis na tayo at punta na tayo ng funranch. ipinagdiinan ko sa kanya na matulog na siya para maganda ang mood nya sa party at hinde siya maging crabby.

I survived!

divisoria that is. Hehehe.

I braved divisoria today. The last time that ive been to divi was 4 years ago. That was when we were still planning for our wedding. We searched for lotion container in the divi. And I was with jason, nanay and acel. In my almost 32 years of existence, ive never been to divisoria alone. either im with nanay or with a friend. but today, i summoned all my courage to be there, alone. well, kelangan kasi. wala pa kasing lootbag si aquim. our original plan talaga is to scout for bag and toys at divi. pero parang ayaw na ni jason kasi malayo. he suggested na mag greenhills na lang. eh hinde kami natuloy last sunday to go to gh. so, i decided na, magDV na. una, hinde ko alam kung pano pupunta ng divi. sabi nila mag LRT na lang ako, para mas madali. eh kaya lang, feeling ko, marami nagLRT ngayon kasi diba mahal pamasahe. sabi ko magbus na lang ako, Gliner, kasi yun mejo kabisado ko pa. medyo late na nga ako nakaalis. kasi internet pa ko and medyo nag asikaso pa nag house. nakaalis ako around 10am i think. baon baon ang mga paalala ng aking ina at mga kapitbahay. hehehe wag daw tatanga tanga. bago naman ako umalis eh tinanong ko muna sila kung mukha ba akong aanga anga.

hinde naman daw. So medjo confident na ako. Nagdala ako ng beltbag. Ng shopping bag. 2 celphone, 1 charger, credit card, some cash, ID at lumarga na. maulan pa nun, so talaga parang extra challenge, and nun ko lang napag alaman na wala pala akong shoes na pang harabas. dapat kasi mag flip flops lang ako, eh kaso nga maulan, so ayaw ko naman maapak apakan ako at maputikan ano, so no choice but to wear my comfortable aerosoles. keber na lang. wala akong ibang shoes eh.

so yun nga, alis ako n 10am. Nag bus ako kahit na medyo matagal ang biyahe atleast maayos naman feeling ko. Tapos bumaba ako bago mag mendiola, me pumara kasi, hehe nakisabay lang ako. Tapos sumakay ako ng divisoria na jeep. Inantay ko din muna na me magbayad para malaman ko kung magkano pamasahe (8 lang pala). pagkababa ko ng tutuban mall (me bumaba din, nakisabay lang ako), tumawag ako sa bahay, tinanong ko kung saan yung rainbow mall na pupuntahan ko. sabi ng nanay ko, mejo malayo pa daw bago mag tutuban. so naglakad ako pabalik. nakita ko naman at nagusyoso ako. me mga toys nga, backpack (whick is what im looking for), hair pins, pang pony at kung ano ano pa. hinde ko masiyado gusto ang back pack kaya sabi ko try ko muna sa 168 baka meron. kung wala rin, balikan ko na lang to.

buti na lang kamo, weekday, mejo maaga pa at baka naglilinis ang Mmda kaya mejo maluway talaga ang recto. As in kakaiba sa dating naabutan namin nina nanay. Nakita ko agad kung san ang 168. di ko kasi talaga alam kung san banda yun. Kasi dati, sumusunod lang ako ke nanay. hinde ko alam pasikot sikot sa divi. so pag dating sa 168, mas madami choices at mas maayos. nagikot ikot na lang ako. hanap ng mga bags, stickers, bubbles, ballperns, coloring book. yun lang kasi ang mga plano namin ilagay sa lootbag. me mga nakita akong backpacks, 50, 35 ang turing. last price 25. me 2 akong napagtanungan na last price nila 20. sabi ko yun na lang. kaso mo nun babalikan ko na,hinde ko na makita. hahaha paikot ikot lang ako sa isang lugar. as in, naikot ko ng mga 10 times hinde ko makita. yun pala, nasa kabilang building nayun. hehehe .eh tatanga tanga nga ako eh, hinde ko tinandaan yung pasilyo and stall number nun mga pinagtanungan ko.

matapos kong mabili ang lahat ng sadya ko at me mga karagdagan pa, iniwan ko muna pinamili ko dun sa last na tindahan na pinagbilhan ko. Bumili muna ko ng lunch ko, plano ko na lang kainin sa biyahe. Mga 3pm na nun. Pagbalik ko, nakisuyo na lang ako na magpahatid sa sakayan, sabi ko dun sa me dumadaan na taxi. kasi naman ,bale 4 big bags ang dala ko, yung pink and white stripes na plastic bag? 3 ganon tapos yung shopping bag ko pa. so taxi na lang talaga. kaso ang hirap naman mag taxi dun.either me mga sakay or ayaw akong isakay. yung iced tea ko natatapon na, yung sundae ko, tunaw na. sabi ko na lang dun sa boy na naghatid sa akin, mag jijeep na lang ako, me mga nakita kasi akong SM Cityhall. sabi ko dun na lang ako sasakay ng taxi. or pag walang taxi, mag Gliner na lang ako uli. so nag jeep ako. eh susme. hinde naman pala mismo sa tapat ng SM city hall dumadaan yung jeep, dun pala sa highway. sa tapat nun. kelangan ko pa mag underpass para at maglakad para makapunta sa sm cityhall. duh? hinde ko kakayanin. so hinde ako bumaba. sabi ko maghahanap na lang ako ng magandang babaan kung san me mga dumdaan na taxi. hanggang nakarating sa me adamson. so dun na lang ako bumaba. suwerte naman me dumaan na taxi. ayaw pa nga ako isakay nung sinabi ko na cainta. nagmakaawa lang ako. sabi ko kuya maawa ka na, hinde na ko makakasakay kasi hinde ko kaya dalhin mga pinamili ko. naawa naman, sabi na lang nya plus 50 daw.sabi ko sige. ok na yun, eh yung isang taxi na kumokontrata sa akin kanina, 500 daw papunta cainta! wag na uy. ok na ko sa plus 50.

madami pa nga sana akong gustong bilhin dun. Ang daming pwedeng bilhin hehehe parang ang sarap mamili. Mga headbands, stuffed toy, toys, charts, dvd. Mga shorts. Pang bahay. Bed sheets, kurtina, fruits. Wala. Hinde ko na lahat yun nabili. Kasi hinde ko na talaga kakayaning dalhin. sabi ni jason balikan ko na lang daw. hehhe as if makakabalik ako ulit dun. kung me pera ka na nga, at alam mo na ang mga reregaluhan mo sa pasko, i suggest, mamili ka na sa divi ngayon. mas makakatawad ka pa, maluwag pa. kesa abutan ka ng pasko, masikip na sa dami ng tao, tatagain ka na din ng mga tindera. well sana makabalik nga ako ng divi. hehehe pagdating ko sa house, pinakita ko sa kanila ang mga napamili ko at naglaro kami ni aquim nun bubbles. minus one na yun sa loots. hehehe
